Bjork and Diddy Sitting in a Tree

Rock Heals comrade Lewis (who has a blog with all kinds of useful geeky stuff wholly unlike our useless geeky stuff) passed this along. He got it from a guy who got it from some other guy who got it from the Internet, no doubt.
In all seriousness, if we get our hands on a copy of Fireworks we're gonna fuck up some animated gifs -- you should too.

Look Mom, I Found a Poem
We're not trying to corner the zombie market here, but run a zombie-based contest and people start sending you stuff. Our dear friend Buck Downs mailed us this found poem the other day -- it was one of those Google ads based on his search terms. And it's lovely. Obviously, it had to be offered as a tshirt.

But we didn't plan on that -- just thought it was better if we showed it on a shirt.

Fuck This AIDS Shit Already
Ira Joel Haber
The AIDS pieces began simply enough in 1980 as doodles in my gay engagement calendar. I didn't think twice about them, and besides in 1980 there was no such thing as AIDS. Then in 1994 I was asked to be in a doodles show, and I just happened to look at his engagement calendar and I was shocked at how these doodled portraits now took on for me a totally new look. They looked ill. I decided to add the lettering, and there you have it.

The Routineers @ Warehouse (DC), 12/8

Warehouse shows start late-ish ... go to the Warehouse's site to find out. We just wanted to show off the gorgeous flyer, cuz as someone close to our heart more or less stated, "If Noel Coward shouldn't be on a punk rock flyer, who should?"
Previous RH contributor Ryan Nelson rocks on in the Routineers, btw.

"Does a new circumstance make a difference in the self-made stories I recycle?"

One Dozen Super Heroes
Jon Lee
I like the idea of a town full of superheroes. A small, poor, rural town full of nothing but caped crusaders. Picking cofee, tending the chicken coop, milking cows. Everyone in a mask. Everyone with superpowers and a penchant for justice. It's absurd, and I love it.
[ed note: These drawing are more from Jon's set "Our Lady" that we began sharing last week. In short, Jon returned to the Dominican town of Padre Las Casas for the feast of Our Lady of Carmel. Drawing ensued.]

Our Lady
Sharpie drawings by Jon Lee
On July 8th I returned to the small town of Padre Las Casas in the southern Dominican province of Azua to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Carmel -- the town's patron saint.
Two weeks earlier, over good bourbon and good vegetarian burgers, I accepted Rock Heals' offer of reporting on the festival.
Patron saint festivals in the Dominican Republic are marked by drunken revelry, domino playing and loud music. Being a good reporter, I immersed myself in the experience.
Armed with a black sharpie and recycled high rag content paper, I drew what I saw. The resulting series has less to do with Our Lady of Mount Carmen and more to do with rum and dominoes.
Oh, and super heroes.
